This is part of a letter received by Dave Howell concerning
changes in ECB directives with regard to youth cricket. Enjoy.
2. ECB directives and guidance and other safeguarding best
practice:
The amended versions of these sections will be available to download
from the website as of 21st December 2009 until the full reprint takes
place.

Please be aware:
KB14 — ECB Safety Guidance on Wearing of Cricket Helmets by Young
Players may change. It is anticipated that by the start of 2010 season,
there will be a new British Standard for wicket keeper faceguards which
will be incorporated into this item. However, this is not anticipated
to be ready before Christmas 2009.
3. Vetting and VBS:
Once we have received further clarification from Government and Sports
Specific Guidance we will amend the relevant sections.
We will also go ahead with the full reprint of Safe Hands, including
the changes listed above as well as full updates of all documents to
the website at that time — this is anticipated to be in Spring
2010.
Please ensure that all relevant parties in your club or league are aware
of the updates.

Our thanks to Chalford CC for obtaining the following info
from the ECB website concerning Child Welfare
From
the ECB web-site (March 07):
I
have already been CRB checked by another organisation - what can
I do?
The
England and Wales Cricket Board Ltd (ECB) does not accept the 'transfer'
of CRB Certificates from another organisation. The CRB does not endorse
the use of portability of certificates and so the ECB is following
best practice guidance by requesting that all individuals in cricket
apply for a CRB Check through the ECB.For more details of the risks
of accepting others' certificates please see the CRB website.
I
already have a Disclosure, can I use it again?
If you are asked to apply for a Disclosure and you already have one for a previous
role; ask if the organisation is willing to accept it. When making this decision
the organisation will take into account the length of time
that has elapsed since that Disclosure was issued; the level of Disclosure;
the nature of the position for which the Disclosure was issued; and the nature
of the position for which you are now applying. Ultimately, it will be the
organisation's decision whether to accept it or not.
Dave
Howell writes in summary: It has been brought to our attention
that the ECB do not accept CRB checks
carried out via other organisations (football, youth work etc), therefore you
must make sure that everybody in your club who needs a CRB check completes the
form and submits it via Mike Bailey to the ECB. This will probably mean you getting
in touch with Mike Bailey for a new supply of forms, please do
this asap. Sorry for any inconvenience but unfortunately it has to be
done.
