1. League Matters

MH reported on a few fixture changes but all fixtures at this stage OK. The method of notifying results this season will be the play cricket website - we will not be using result cards. All clubs will be reminded of this at the registration meeting on 12th April. Basic results (scores for both sides, the points scored, any 50's and 5 for's and wicket keeping victims) must be on play-cricket by Sunday mid day for the information to be available to the press. A full scorecard needs to be entered on play-cricket by Wednesday evening and verified by the opposition. Fines will be imposed for clubs failing to follow this system. Results need not be phoned in any longer if clubs use play-cricket. However in emergency only results can be texted to Mike on 07775 085377 or left as an answer message on 01453 752905. It was noted that any re-arranged games must be played by the 28th August 2010, any games played after this date the result will not be counted towards the league standings.

Fair Play marks can now be entered onto the SDCA website rather than now defunct result cards

Please note the play-cricket notes above reflects slight amendments since the meeting and has been amended to avoid future confusion - Dave Thomas

2. Treasurers Report

All arrears have now been cleared from the 2009 season. SDCA made a profit for the year of £204. DT has bought senior and youth individual medals for the next 2 years from a new supplier. The quality is improved for around the same price. He bought 2 years worth simply for a better deal on price. The league insurance renewal is due and it has increased from £310 to £315 for 2010. It was agreed to renew this cover. RL confirmed the bank mandate's needed to be switched from Derek Ind & Jim Cunneen and DH & DG would be included on the new mandate. RL pointed out that for the evening 20/20 league all relevant fees needed to be paid, KA said he would have a chat with Andy Russell to confirm how they handle this and to what extent. These fees will be set at the registration meeting. DT announced the following sponsorship £250 from Lords, £150 from Thrupp Tyre Company (Junior K.O.) and £200 from On The Line/Adam Bell of Tormarton who wishes to sponsor Division 1, it was agreed that he would also get the evening league as he is prepared to provide the new pink balls. Thanks to all our sponsors. We still need sponsorship for the Youth Leagues (approx £750 required) and Senior K.O. Cup. DG mentioned the Sportsassist package and DG will look into this as a fund raising tool, DT mentioned clubs may also want to look at easyfundraising.co.uk.

3. Youth Cricket

Youth Meeting is to be held on the 3rd March 2010. Although Dave T and Dave H are now involved in the GCB Youth system they were keen to point out that their biggest priority was the continued success of SDCA Youth Cricket There has been a change in the ECB directive for fast bowlers;

Age Spell Max Overs
U13 5 10
U14 - 15 6 12
U16-17 7 18

The age group is defined at August 31st of the previous year. Nobody U12 can play open age cricket. Under 13's require a signature from a parent or guardian.

5. Child Welfare

Child Welfare Issues – Nothing to report and this was agreed to be struck from the next agenda. Clubs have their own Child Welfare Officers and there was no need for the SDCA to report on these issues.

6. Website

All GCB news sent to the SDCA would appear on the SDCA website until the GCB completed its own website in May 2010. DT requested that this item be taken off the agenda as there was often very little to report.

7. K.O. Cups

JH noted that this year individual trophies will not be awarded. Clubs will receive prize money (as before) and a shield to keep. The first round is still an open draw and the losers in this round will be moved into the plate competition. The date of the final is still to be set and the venue to be confirmed

8. 20/20 Wedneaday League

So far 9 clubs have registered and KA noted he was ideally looking for 12 clubs to enter. It was agreed that another ad would be placed in the Stroud News and Journal.

9. Umpires Rep

There had some confusion at GCB level as to who was running an umpires course and what type of course it would be. As well as the course now being organised by the GCB the SDCA would still offer its members the Introduction to Umpiring Course via a website advert - this would only be run if enough people were interested. 15th Feb - no interested parties as yet.

10. GCB Rep

The GCB is changing its legal structure and is becoming a limited company. To enable them to vote at AGMs clubs and leagues will need to apply for membership on an official form. This will mean that should the GCB be sued for any reason, an individual clubs liability is limited to £10. There is no additional charge for this application - however the affiliation fee to the GCB must be paid by every club as at present and is £40.

Womens Cricket is a priority for the GCB.

It was noted that the SDCA is paying for the expenses of SDCA committee to attend the GCB meetings and DT would bring this up with the GCB. DH noted that these are interesting times with the GCB and they are becoming much more proactive.

11. AOB

DT suggested that it might be a good idea to present JC and DI with some token of appreciation for all their hard work during their time with the SDCA. This was agreed and the two gentlemen in question would be contacted for some ideas of what they would like.

Meeting Closed. The date of the next meeting is April 12th which will follow after the registration meeting, Captains & Vice Captains are required to attend.
