Under 11 League & Cup Rules
Please note: League rules appear here and Cup rules follow

General:
1. Players (boys and girls) must be under 11 on the September Ist prior to the competition. Any team fielding an over age player risks forfeiting any points won.
2. Entry fees £10 for the League, £10 for the Cup - per team.
3. No player may play for more than one club unless permission given by League organiser. (N.B. if a club has more than one team, players can switch between teams EXCEPT in the Knockout Cup, where an appearance for a team means they are Cup-tied).

Matches to be played under MCC laws except for the following:

4. Pitch to be 20 yards in length
5. A ball of 4¾ oz to be used.
6 Each team shall comprise of 8 players. In the event of one team only being able to field 7 players, and where the opposition cannot help out by lending this team an extra player, a player can bat twice. However, to avoid unfair advantage, the opposition coach has the right, following the completion of batting by the third pair, to choose which player bats again.
7. Matches to commence at 6.15pm.
8. Each match to be one innings per side, this innings to be of 16 overs.
9. The batting side to be divided into pairs, each pair batting for 4 overs.
10. Safety: Batsmen must wear helmets, protectors, two pads and gloves. Fielders must not field within 10 yards of the striker, except in the slip area.
11. Each side to be awarded 200 runs at the commencement of the innings.
12. Batsmen shall have unlimited 'lives'. Each life lost shall be recorded on the score sheet. 5 runs shall be deducted from the total for each life (wicket) lost. Batsmen to change ends at the fall of each wicket except on the last ball of an over. In run out situations make sure the non-striker faces the next delivery.
13. Every player on the fielding side must bowl except the wicket keeper. No player may bowl more than 3 overs. No underarm bowling allowed.
14. Bowlers run-ups restricted to about 10 yards. Umpires should ensure that bowler’s run-ups are restricted to this. To ensure this is adhered to, the 10-yard line shall be clearly marked by a white line
15. Coaches and umpires should ensure that no fielder is closer than 10 yards from the bat (except for slip/wicket-keeper).
16. The side with the highest number of runs shall be the winner
17. Points: 3 for a win, 2 for a tie, 1 for no result, 1 for a defeat.
18. Each team shall provide an umpire and a scorer.
19. The home team is responsible for notifying the league organiser of the result within 5 working days, Results will be accepted by email or by post (if you need result cards please let us know).The home club will be fined £5 if the result is not received by the organiser within 5 days of the scheduled match date. If the match is postponed due to bad weather or any other reason the home organiser should inform the League Organiser (in the first instance by email - if email is not available then by telephone). If the League organiser does not receive notification the home team will be fined £5. Additional Match reports are encouraged and should be emailed to mwa.words@btopenworld.com for inclusion in the local press and admin@sdca-cricket.co.uk for inclusion on the website
20. Matches called off due to bad weather or a legitimate reason can be re-arranged subject to the consent of both teams and the League organiser must be notified of the revised date. Games must be played by the cut-off date for the League, otherwise both teams will be awarded 1point.
21. Wides will be awarded as 2 runs and no more than eight balls including wides will be bowled per over except for normal rules for the last over in the game.
22. All matches must be completed in the week after the final league fixture.
23. A ‘time-out’ is allowed after 8 overs of each innings to enable coaches to talk to their respective teams. This is for a maximum of 5 minutes.
24. League winners will be the side with most points. If there is a tie result between teams involved will decide winners

Under 11 Cup

Rules changes for 2007 are highlighted with **

1. Players to be under 11 on September 1st prior to the start of the season of the competition. No player may play for more than one club in any competition unless permission is given by League organiser.

2. Matches to be played under M.C.C. laws.

3. Evening matches to commence at 6.15 pm.

4. Each innings to be of 20 overs if possible. Fewer overs can be played subject to the Captains agreement to a minimum of 10 overs per side.

5. Bowlers to be limited to bowling 4 overs.

6. Home side to provide a suitable ball 4.3/4 oz.

7. Each side to provide a competent umpire and scorer.

8. The side scoring the most runs will win. If sides level after 20 overs, the side losing fewer wickets will win, if still undecided match decided by score at end of 15th over.

9. Batsman to ‘retire’ once they have scored 50 runs. (can return to bat in original order if all other batsmen are dismissed).

10. The home team is responsible for notifying the league organiser of the result within 5 working days, Results will be accepted by email or by post (if you need result cards please let us know).The home club will be fined £5 if the result is not received by the organiser within 5 days of the scheduled match date. If the match is postponed due to bad weather or any other reason the home organiser should inform the League Organiser (in the first instance by email - if email is not available then by telephone). If the League organiser does not receive notification the home team will be fined £5. 11. The first round of the cup will be scheduled as part of the fixtures before the season begins and will take place on a regular Tuesday evening. Subsequent rounds will not be officially scheduled - teams will be notified of the draw and the home team will be responsible for providing the opposition with 2 dates within a scheduled time period.

12. Entry fee per team is £10.00.

13. Bowlers run up to be limited to about 10 yards.

14. Players must be members of the club they represent.

15. No underarm bowling allowed.

16. Matches called off due to bad weather must be played before date of the next round.

17. Helmets must be worn by both batsmen and wicketkeepers when appropriate.

18. Time out for coaches will be taken after 10 overs.
