Hawkesbury
v Stroud A (Cup 1st Round) |
Stroud
beat Hawkesbury on Sunday in the U 13 Cup, played on a fine April morning
at Hawkesbury.
For Stroud, Chris Williams-Camp retired on 67 and Kieren Smith scored 52
in a score of 160 for 4 off their 20 overs.Hawkesbury were all out for
31 with two wickets for each of Chris W-Camp, Jack Sherington and Kieren
Smith. Jack Sherington also took a remarkable
one-handed catch in the slips off Mark Mayo. So Stroud won excellently by
129 runs against a Hawkesbury side who fought well in the field, but struggled
with the bat against a very tight Stroud
bowling attack and some outstanding fielding.

Stroud
A v Cam B (Cup 2nd Round)
|
After
rain stopped play last week the second round of the Surridge SDCA 20-over
Cup versus Cam was replayed on Friday evening. After two early wickets,
Kieran Smith went on to score 59 not out partnering Dan Trott who finished
on 22 which helped Stroud take 108 for 4 in the first innings. Cam were
unable to match Stroud’s run rate in the second innings with some
excellent bowling from Rob Smith (4 wickets); they were all out for 40
runs giving Stroud a convincing win of 68 runs.

Painswick
v Frampton |
On
a hot sunny morning at Broadham fields, Painswick under13 finally got
there season underway.After having to miss out on their first games due
to rugby commitments, they got their season giong with a good victory
against Frampton. Winning the toss, Painswick amassed 124-7. Main stay
of the innings was skipper for the day simon linsell who scored a well
struck 74. He was well supported by Ashton Herbert(15) & Conner Beadle
( 9 not out)For Frampton Tracey bowled good line and length for 3-0-13-3.
Frampton in their innings were ripped apart by the opening pair of Jacob
Lee & Scott Westbury, reducing them to 10-3.Frampton began to rebuild
their innings but were stopped by losing wickets at regular intervals with
only Liam Jones (10) & sam Bateman (10 not out) reaching double figures.Frampton
batted out their overs making 51-6. wicket takers for Painswick were J.Lee
8-3, S Westbury 7-1, J. Walters 10-1 & F. Kermani 3-1. |
Cirencester
v Cam A
|
Cam
batted first and notched up an impressive 128 for 6 wickets. Excellent
innings from Dan Rose who held the innings together with an unbeaten
56 before sportingly retiring. Rufus Treverton-Jones took 3 for 9 runs
off 4 overs with looping chinamen.
Cirencester started steadily and lost early wickets (including one very
slick stumping from an alert wicketkeeper) and finished up on 70 for 9
off the 20 overs.

Hardwicke
v Stroud A
|
On
Sunday, Stroud A played Hardwicke in the Surridge Youth League and
won by 18 runs. Jack Sherrington batted
consistently well reaching 40 runs with good supporting performances
from Rob Smith and Milo Silk. Tight fielding and a strong bowling performance
in the second innings with wickets from Connor Webb, Jonny Brodie and
two from Callum Waters helped Stroud to victory. |

| Stroud
U13 Arrows team continue to play winning cricket with a 90 run victory
over Chalford last Sunday in the SDCA U13 Youth League. Stroud lost the
toss and were put in to bat. After losing a couple of early wickets they
strengthened their performance and reached 120 in the 20 overs. There
was some sound batting from Dan Trott (32) and Kieran Smith (21), together
with good assistance from Jonny Brodie (16), Jack Sherrington(16), and
Rob Smith (15) to reach this total.
The
second innings saw Chalford never in the hunt as a strong attack
from Stroud with solid fielding and accomplished bowling from Kieran
Smith (4 wickets) and Rob Smith and Harry Owen, both with two wickets
apiece.

Hardwicke
v Hawkesbury

Hardwicke
beat Hawkesbury u 13's...Hardwicke batted first and scored 141 in their
20 overs (Sam Turl 28, Alex Ireland 58no,
Ben Hopkins 26no).
Hawkesbury scored 70 for 9 in their 20 overs (Ricky Bezar 31, Alex Ireland
3 for 1, Adam Mace 2 for 8). Sam Turl, the Hardwicke wkt keeper, also made
two very smart stumpings.
So, Hardwicke were clear winners by 71 runs in a good spirited game, with
some excellent performances on both sides.

Painswick
v Chalford

On
an overcast sunday at broadham fields Painswick took on Chalford. Captain
of the day Ashton Herbet won the toss and elected
to bat. Painswick started confidently but were soon in trouble at 18-2.
But then a solid stand between A. Duncliffe and S. Westbury with 50* and
21* respectfully steadied the ship. Both then retiring on these scores
with then S. Linsell 21* & J. Walters 9 taking up the run chase finishing
on 121-4. Charlie Cook bowled a good line and length finishing with 4-0-7-2.
Painswick then bowled good line and length from both Westury & Linsell.
Chalford lost wickets at regular intervals and were finally dismissed for
31 off of 17 overs.Bowling was shared around 9 bowlers and was backed up
by 2 smart stumpings from A. Herbert. Another good team performance form
this promising set
of young men. |
Hawkesbury

a rather damp and cloudy day Stroud U13 Arrows played a strong game to
beat Hawkesbury ‘A’ by 9 wickets.
It took them only 18 of the 20 overs to bowl out Hawkesbury for 56 runs
with tight fielding and great teamwork. Best bowler was Rob Smith with
4 for 4 and Sam Coldrick and Jonny Brodie both took 2 wickets apiece.
Despite a rain shower
threatening the game, Stroud batted well and it didn’t take them
long to reach 57 runs after only 11 overs with Jack Sherrington and
Ben Townley-Evans not out at the end of the game.

Stroud A v Painswick
On a very hot summer’s
day Stroud U13 Arrows won the toss and opted to bat first against Painswick
on
their home
ground. Dan Trott batted steadily for 14 overs before being caught
out on 47 runs. Next in, Chris Williams-Camp continued the high run rate
to finish not out on 69 partnering Kieran Smith who was 18 not out
at
the
end of 20 overs with a score of 150 for 2.
The second innings
saw tight fielding from Stroud and wickets from Milo Silk (3) and Ben
Townley-Evans (2) helping Stroud to reach a total wicket
haul of 9 in return for Painswick’s 98 runs. Star batsman for Painswick
was Alex Duncliffe who scored 61 before being bowled by Kieran Smith
in a wicket maiden. The final score was 52 runs in Strouds favour.

Stroud A v Cam A
STROUD THROUGH TO THE FINAL OF THE CUP
Stroud won the toss and opted to bat in the semi-final of the U13
SDCA Cup. After the fall of the first wicket Chris Williams-Camp
(50) and
Kieran Smith (45 not out) played out a fine partnership with the
score at 109 after 20 overs. Two wickets were taken by Cam’s
D Rose and one by Sam Hale.
Stroud’s
fielding was challenged in the second innings as Cam’s
batsmen got off to a flying start. However, the run rate reduced with
wickets falling from Milo Silk (3) who took out Sam Hale (19) with a
catch by Callum Waters and Kieran Smith (2). Jack Sherrington, Dan Trott
and Chris Williams-Camp also finished on a wicket apiece. It was
an exciting game with the final result hanging in the balance until the
last few overs. Stroud did well to win by 27 runs and they now go forward
to the Cup final to play Hardwicke.

Cam A v Stroud A
After
one over into the game played on Cam’s ground, Rob Smith
bowled a wicket maiden for Stroud. With Stroud’s fielders claiming
two run outs and a further wicket, Cam finished their innings on 81 for
4 with Finn Dixon making 31 runs.
In
reply, Stroud’s batsmen got off to a slow start due to tight
bowling from Cam’s Sam Hale and Finn Dixon. However, the run rate
increased mid-innings with Stroud taking all opportunities to make runs.
Milo Silk (13) batted well before getting out lbw and there were consistent
performances from Kieran Smith and Dan Trott who were both not out on
37 and 29 respectively. The end result after a closely fought match was
a win for Stroud by 8 wickets.
Hawkesbury
v Painswick (submitted by Painswick)
Painswick
travelled to Hawkesbury on sunday and recorded at 40 run victory.Winning
the toss captain Jack Walters decided to bat
first. Losing their first wicket early bought together Alex Duncliffe & Ashton
Herbert who batted superbly to put together a match winning stand.A.
Herbert went for 48 & A. Duncliffe retired on 51* and a late flurish
from Jake Tyrell with 14 not out took the total to 142-7.
Hawkesbury started well and were always up with the run rate, but with
the lose of regular wickets finished on 102-9. Top scorers were J.Lee
21, R. Belar 17 & C.day 12. The bowling for Painswick was shared
among 9 bowlers with good performances from N. Evans 13-1, S. Thompson
18-1, K. Herbert 2-1 & R.B.Davies 13-3. A match played in a good
spirt by two well mannered teams.
Hawkesbury

Painswick
batted first and scored 142 for 7 off their 20 overs, A Herbert 48
and A Duncliffe 51 retired. Ed Sonnex had 3 wickets
for 15 from his 4 overs.Hawkesbury in reply scored 103 for 9, most notable
for a ninth wicket stand of 46 between James Lee and Chris Day against
some excellent slow
and fast bowling. For Painswick R Davies took 3 for 13. So Painswick ran
out winners by 39 runs in a well fought game, played throughout in
a good spirit.

League C - Frocester C v Slimbridge
Frocester
batted first achieving a total of 274.It was a good all round performance
with solid batting from Ben Spyvee (17) and Luke Walpole (15). In the
bowling attack for Slimbridge Martin Tait took 2 wickets. Slimbridge
batted second and did well but eventually reached 238. Alex Holden did
particularly well scoring an outstanding 33 not out for Slimbridge.The
Frocester bowling was solid with the following players all taking 2 wickets;
Joe McHale, Jack Pinker,Rory Thomas and Luke Walpole.
League
B - Wickwar v Frocester B
Frocester
batted first and scored 289 with everyone contributing although the stand
out performance came from Matt. Maryon with 27 runs . In reply Wickwar
scored 209 with J Bryan scoring a hard hit 29. L. Hill also batted well
for Wickwar as well as being the pick of the bowlers . G. Seabrook
bowled well for frocester taking 5 wickets and was well supported by J.
Malcolm and R. Couling .
League A Painswick v Cam A
In
a very enjoyible fixture between two very even teams, Cam emerged winners
by 2 runs at Broadham fields on Sunday morning.Painswick skipper of the
day, Jacob Lee won the toss and decided to put
Cam in. Which lokked to be a good toss to win as they soon had Cam 31-3
with good bowling from Linsell, Lee & James. But a superb stand of
83 between S.Hale 56* ret and A. Lennard 24 pushed the score up to 117-4.
Both batsmen looked very at ease, especially Hale and ran well between
the wickets. Fine bowling from Painswick (S.Linsell 4-1-8-1) was backed
up by some fine fielding, with J.Tryell excelling with a finely taken catch.
In response Painswicks innings got off to a fantastic start against fine
bowling from F.Dixon 4-0-19-3 and S.Hale 4-2-3-0. A stand of 70 from A.
Herbert 46 & J.Lee 57 put Painswick into a good postion, but good bowling
and fielding from Cam enabled them to seal a victory by 2 runs. Credit
to both sets of players for a great game to watch played in very good spirit.

9th July |
Stroud A v Frocester A
Rain stopped play the first time and nearly the second
as the U13 Arrows played Frocester at Stroud last week on a very damp
and grey evening.
Batting first
the Arrows notched up 129 runs for 2 wickets. Kieran Smith and Dan Trott
were not out for 54 and 12 respectively and Milo Silk put in a great
performance
with 36 runs including three 6’s. J Stevens and J Roberts took
the two wickets for Frocester.
In the second innings Rob Smith of Stroud took the first wicket of Dan Whincup
and Frocester then struggled to get runs with K Tuck taking the highest score
of 12. Wickets followed from Chris Williams-Camp (4 for 9 runs), Will Martin
(2 for 3 runs) and Kieran Smith and Jack Sherrington with one wicket apiece.
The final score for Frocester was 53 for 9 giving Stroud a significant win. |

Frampton
v Stroud A
Another
match in the same week saw Stroud play a very similar game against
Frampton. Batting first again on a soft, slow pitch the Arrows lost
six wickets for 123 runs. Kieran Smith was n/o 37 and Dan Trott, n/o
23 with Jack Sherrington getting
17 runs. The Arrows speedily despatched Frampton in the second innings for
52 runs, Kieran Smith taking 6 of these with Ben Townley-Evans, Jonny
Brodie and Sam
Coldrick taking one each. Frampton’s S Bateman got 12 runs.
Painswick
v Stroud B (by Painswick)
Painswick
travelled to Stroud on Sunday and won convincingly. Skipper Pat Partridge
lost the toss and Painswick were asked to bat. Opening pair of J. Lee
and
A. Herbert soon got about the bowling and put together an
opening stand of 67, untill Herbert (38) was the first of Fletchers 3 victims
in one over. With figures of 4-0-11-4 from Fletcher Painswick were soon starting
to struggle. But J. Lee with his 2nd 50* (ret) in a row, held the innings together
with a fine array of shots, well supported by everyone else brought the innings
to a close at 125-8 In reply, Stroud never got going after Jack Walters took
3 quick wickets with some fine spin bowling (3-0-11-3). All of the
bowlers chipped in and the fielders
held all of their catches and only Fletcher with 17 offered any resistance, with
the innings closing on 65 all out. |

Painswick v Minchinhampton
Painswick entertained
Minchinhampton on a very dull Friday evening and recorded a good win.
Asked to bat Painswick made 135-3, mainly due to A.
Duncliffe in fine form scoring 53*Ret and he was well supported by J. Lee
15, A. Herbert 16, S. Linsell 22 & S Westbury 10 *. For Minch H. Auster
bowled good line to finish with 4-0-12-1.
In reply Minchinhampton started really well with openers H. Auster 13 & J
Dermody 31 looking really good.But once these two were removed their innings
folded for 55 all out.This was due to good line and length bowling from
all 9 bowlers used, with A. Duncliffe 2-0-7-3, J. James 2-0-4-3, J. Tyrell
0.3-0-0-2 , S. Westbury 2-1-3-1 & J. Lee 2-1-1-1 |
